Confirmation

In the Sacrament of Confirmation we pray that the Holy Spirit would strengthen us to live more faithfully as followers of Jesus.

 Confirmation usually takes place when a Catholic is a teenager, but can be celebrated at any time in  adult life. The Bishop anoints those being confirmed with Chrism, a holy oil that symbolises being strengthened to be witnesses to Jesus in our everyday lives. The person being confirmed chooses a saint as their patron and role model. Their lives become enriched by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the Christian initiation which began at Baptism is complete.
