Deacon Keith Ballard

Deacon Keith Ballard was brought up in Cleveland, North Yorkshire, and was ordained deacon in 1994. Deacon Keith served as a teacher and headteacher in Catholic high schools in West Yorkshire, Worcestershire and Lancashire for over 30 years. He is trained in spiritual accompaniment in the Ignatian tradition and was Director of the Permanent Diaconate in the Diocese of Leeds until 2021 when he moved to serve in the Archdiocese of Liverpool. Deacon Keith is a foundation governor at St George’s Catholic Primary School and currently teaches on the formation programme for permanent deacons. He serves on the Archbishop’s Advisory Group and is the Secretary to the National Diaconal Conference of England and Wales. He is married to Angela and they have three grown-up children and two grandchildren. His interests include walking and gardening, and he has recently had his first book for children, 'The Bear With a Sore Throat' published.
