Funerals

Christians believe in 'the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.' (the Nicene Creed).  The Christian funeral is a liturgical celebration of the Church in which we pray for the person who has died, and place his/ her soul into the care of our Heavenly Father.  The Christian community gathers to support the bereaved family and friends and to proclaim our hope in eternal life as promised by Jesus.

The funeral service can be either a Requiem Mass or a funeral service in the church followed by a short service of committal at either a crematorium or at the graveside.  

We have an experienced bereavement team who, with the priest or deacon, can offer sympathy, caring support and practical advice to help you plan the most appropriate type of service for your loved one.
